 Submissions to Michigan State Law Review Print Edition

The Michigan State Law Review is the flagship journal of Michigan State University College of Law, publishing five print edition issues per year. The Michigan State Law Review receives approximately 3,000 submissions each year and publishes approximately 15-25 pieces in the five independent print issues. At this time, the Law Review does not accept student submissions or book reviews. All other submissions are welcome.

Submission Requirements

We accept submissions in DOCX and PDF form. Please include a CV detailing your relevant qualifications and publication history and a manuscript of the article. We consider submissions of all lengths and do not have a word limit. Articles should use footnotes rather than endnotes or works cited. Text and citations should conform with the The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (22nd ed. 2025) and The Redbook: A Manual on Legal Style (3d ed. 2002).

Submission Mediums

Michigan State Law Review accepts submissions primarily through Scholastica. In case of issues with the Scholastica portal, you may submit by email.

Publication Timelines

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, but the Law Review generally fills independent issues in the spring between February and April, and in the fall during August and September. We will do our best to review all expedited requests. If an article is accepted for publication elsewhere, please notify us with a withdrawal request as soon as possible.

Submissions to Michigan State Law Review Online Forum

The Michigan State Law Review Online Forum allows scholars to create publicly visible posts concerning topics of legal relevance to spark academic conversation, debate, and discussion. These publications enjoy an expedited review and timeline for publication. The Online Forum accepts unsolicited submissions from all authors, including students.
