About Michigan State Law Review

As the flagship Law Review journal at Michigan State University College of Law, Michigan State Law Review (MSRL) is a student-run journal publishing both print and online forum issues. MSLR has been dedicated to the advancement of legal scholarship in academia since the first publication in June of 1931. In doing so, MSLR founded a “Visionary Scholar” publication in 2018, where MSLR selects one legal scholar making profound impacts on the law each academic year. MSLR also issues and hosts a symposium each year focusing on a timely topic, ranging from discussions of civil rights, religion, immigration, intellectual property, and more.

As of 2024, the Washington & Lee School of Law ranked MSLR as the 65th flagship, student-edited journal in English. While MSLR strives for continuous improvement, this ranking is a dramatic increase from its ranking of 332nd in 2003.
